Christmas 2011

We had a great Christmas with all the kids (and 1 grandchild- Calen) here for Christmas morning. Dad made a great breakfast as usual with everything from sausage and eggs, to french toast and hashbrowns, complete with juice of every kind. It's something everyone looks forward to. This year Chase was in the kitchen as the DAD's made a wonderful breakfast. Then off to church for an hour of music and messages of Christ. When we got home we had a Christmas story "The Other Wise Man" read by mom (Heather had to finish though) followed by singing every Christmas song in the church song book. We wondered if we would ever get through them all. But we did, and then we opened presents and visited and had fun being together. It was great to have Ryan and Kerri here for their first Christmas together. Tiffany Opened her mission call on Christmas Eve when everyone was here to receive the great news. She was called to go to the Ukraine Donetsk Mission. She reports to the Provo MTC on March 14 2012. After a wonderful morning Christmas day, we all went outside to enjoy the outdoors. We all went down to the river (just around the corner from home) and slid, ran, skated, and danced on the frozen river. We took pictures and had a fun snowball fight. Great memory for all.

YW Pres. to Primary Pres.

Yesterday I was released as the Young Women's President in our ward and sustained as the new Primary President. The interesting thing about it was that the former Primary Pres. is now the new YW President! When has that ever happened? Well, I'm really looking forward to being in primary and I think it will be great!! I'm going to have to get advice and ideas from Selena (She's been primary pres. for some time now and loves it.) I'm sure she will be lots of help. I will miss working with Sister Pam Martin and Sister Rhonda Francisco, who were my councilors in YW. My councilors in Primary are 1st, Lori Whiting, and 2nd Audie Cluff. We have a total of 88 children in primary right now. I am excited!

Family News Jan '10

January 2010 has us all healthy, busy, and happy.
RICK is teaching U.S. History at Round Valley High School for his 4th year. He is the Sunday School Secretary at church.
SHERRY is teaching 4th grade for her 4th year at Round Valley Intermediate School (RVIS). She was just released this month as Young Women's Pres. and called to be the Primary President in our ward (Springerville Ward). She was YW Pres for 15 months.
RYAN is attending Eastern Arizona (E.A.) college in Thatcher, AZ. He returned from his mission in Sao Paulo, Brasil in July 2009 and was here for a month before he started at E.A. in August 2009.
HEATHER is now Heather Wilkins. She was married on July 13 to Theron Chase Wilkins in the Snowflake Temple. They are living in Thatcher and going to school at E.A.C. Heather has received her AA degree in May 2009 and also received her CNA certificate. She is hoping to get a job working as a CNA this year and still pursue nursing at E.A. Chase is working nights at a home for men who have special needs. He enjoys his job and is working hard at school too.
TIFFANY is in Kiev, Ukraine right now until June 2010. She attended EAC for a semester and is on the "Dean's list" for getting a 3.6 GPA. She received a full ride scholarship after graduating from Round Valley High School in May 2009 with a 3.85 GPA. She is teaching English in Kiev through International Language Program (ILP). We are excited for her to have this "once in a lifetime" experience. She emails us almost daily so far and is learning a lot. She lives with a host family and works with about 6 other teachers and 3 head teachers.
AMBRIA is a junior at Round Valley High School (RVHS). She is taking some pretty tough classes right now. Chemistry II, Pre-Calc/Trig, and AP English. She also has seminary, art and Ambassador's choir. She really enjoys Ambassador's (or show choir). The Show Choir will be going on their tour trip in March and will be staying on a cruise ship and performing. She had to earn all the money herself to be able to go ($400+). She isn't taking violin this semester (taken it for the last 3 years) but she still practices and loves the violin.
JOSHUA is a freshman at RVHS and loves being in High School. He especially loves seminary. He still plays the drums for the middle school jazz band and practices with them once a week. He is also in Ambassador's (Show Choir) and has earned the money to go on the tour trip in March. On the trip they will be going to Long Beach and then on the cruise to Catalina and to Mexico and back to Long Beach.
KRISTIN is in 6th grade at Round Valley Middle School. She is the Vice President for her class this year in student council. She is in violin at school and has been chosen to go to All State in March. She is getting all A's in her classes and works hard at everything she does. She loves being in Beehives.
JESSICA is in 4th grade at Round Valley Intermediate School. She is in Mom's class for reading and math. She is getting straight A's in her classes. She loves being in Mom's classroom. She "teaches the chairs" before and after school in mom's room. She talks to them, gives them assignments, uses the 'Smartboard', the chalkboard, and anything else she can find. She says she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. She's getting a lot of practice at it. She loves the teacher's edition books best because she "teaches with them".
RICKY is in 2nd grade at Round Valley Primary School (RVPS) in Mr. Hardy's class. He had Mr. Hardy for 1st grade too. He loves reading and says he is the best in his class in Math. (His teacher verified that statement.) He enjoys cub scouts (Wolf scout).
